Default Shifting problems

Whenever i gun it on first gear and try to quickly shift to second, it seems like i have to really pull it in second gear harder than going into 3rd, 4rd ect. shifting does not seem so smooth for me as well. Is this a common thing for S2K's? I got a 2002 i just bought recently.

I don't think that it sounds normal. For me, the 1-2 shift is always smooth and it is by far my favorite shift. Make sure you are getting the clutch all the way in, because I think that people try to shift form 1-2 the fastest, and they tend to do it to fast and they end up damaging things.

Shift slower and don't force it. Those are the syncros you are pulling on and if you keep it up you'll wear them out. Never force a shift into gear. It won't go because it's not ready to. When the syncros have matched speeds it will go in on it's own. Pulling on the shift lever harder won't help. 1-2 in the slowest of the shifts because the speed differential in the gears is the highest. If you want faster 1-2 shifts get an 04 or later transmission.
