OK...

(the story) I'm at the SF Film Festival in Japantown, and park my stook in the main Japantown garage under the Kabuki theater. Parked with the top down, and the alarm on (a Clifford 9000 with the motion detectors). When I get back and deactivate the alarm, she tells me that the alarm had gone off while I was away. No biggie, that sometimes happens when gawkers have a look. I get in to drive off, and notice SOME LITTLE BAS***DS STOLE MY GEARSHIFT KNOB!!!

Luckily, with such a fantastic shifting action, it's not too big a deal getting it into a gear without the knob (although reverse is a little tricky).

Well, there's some riced up Civic or Integra out there with my shift knob, and I'm out some bucks and hassle.

Moral to the story: Always park with the top up in a Civic/Integra filled environment.

Boy, that really s**ks big time. I don't usually park with the top down unless I'm gonna return quickly. Now I know I won't with that happening.

I want a security system that put about 500 volts thu anyone touching the inside of the car.

Fry the little bast***s and teach em a lesson!

Or better yet, a net that blows out and traps them until you (and the police) return to the car.

Good luck getting a new one. If ya gotta spend the money on one anyway, look into the Titanium ones. In the pictures they look kinda neat. Haven't seen one on a car yet.

The only S2000 test drive I got before I bought mine was a used one with 650 miles and no shift knob.

Guess what the Chevy dealer wanted for it? Only $44,000, what a deal!

It's kinda painful to drive without a shift knob; like you said, reverse is worst.

Sorry you got ripped off...

why hasn't one of the more enterprising of us come up with a scheme to connect the shift knob to the battery when the alarm is armed or when the car is locked?

You know, if they get as far as the shift knob the voltage on the perimeter defence isn't high enough! Medium to well done should be what to aim for when it comes to people who don't respect other's hard-earned property!

Dude, that sucks and all, but what were you thinking parking with the top down? In Japantown no less. During the weekend festival no less. People around that area have sticky fingers and sharp keys. Be careful next time.

I was at the same festival this weekend too, but it was too crowded so I took off.
