Default Shims on the hardtop latches

Has anyone adjusted the shims on their hard top latches?

Does it actually help to bring the top down lower than the windshield frame?

I have a rubber hose shoved in between the latches as a quick fix, but find this annoying to have to readjust everytime I want to take the top off etc...

I know how to adjust the shims just wondering if others have done it and have seen positive results.

And how did you get that dang first screw out. I stripped mine. I have 3 pairs on order from Honda, once they come in I'll go in there and rip it out.

As a quick note, I've already adjusted the rears as much as I can, without making the alignment uneven.

I think putting in more shims will take the soft top edge further away from the windshield frame. You might want to check to see if the strikers have worked their way loose. You may have to go in there and Loctite those striker bolts in place. If you're going to do that, it might be useful to consider just getting new strikers and Loctite those in.

This is for the hard top. The soft top attaches perfectly. I want to remove the three shims that are in the hard top drivers side latch. I have the infamous, drivers side sits higher syndrome, that plagues hard tops. The strikers should be fine, i've never had a need to adjust them. There is nothing wrong with them.

Ah, this would have been nice to know in your first post. I think you are on the right track with removing some shims. Do 2, then you know if you've gone too far or not enough.

I have not pulled any shims yet...
Although it may sit a very very slight bit higher on the driver side on mine, I have had no noise. Therfore I haven't adjusted.

My only noise is in the back right by my head on both sides, driver and passenger. Very slight whistle. The latches for the back catchers are adjusted all the way and my seal gaps are good Do you have this w/ your top? I have chalked it up to acceptable, seeing as it's now 10X's quieter inside.
I also don't like the gap where the HT seal comes down and meets the seal mounted to the body by the door. A tiny gap there.... No leakage or anything, but I still don't like it.

Yea, on my drivers side it seems that everything is out of wack.

Although I've adjusted them to "acceptable" levels, they dont line up as nicely as it does on the passenger side. I also have the slight whistle from the rear of the drivers/passenger side window. I bought a fresh tube of shin-etsu so I hope this will do the trick.

I still have a lot of rattling when I go over bumps, but what can you do.

Also does anyone know if by not having one of those rubber stoppers in the back it will do any harm? The part where it "rests" on top of the soft top. Mine didnt come with one side(bought mine used) I do not think it will matter as it doesn't even seem that the top sits on the soft top, but I'm paranoid.
