Shipping Bumper
Hey I'm trying to ship a bumper from 92728 to 66049.
The bumper probably weighs 15-20lbs, and the box may be 5-10lbs.
My problem is that Fedex, DHL, UPS will only ship a package that is length+2W+2H = 165" or less. The box I have is 72"+24"+24". So it's too large. I was what other people have done to ship a front bumper. Could I just say it's 72"+23"+23" and it will be just under the 165"?
I need to find one that will pick up from a house and drop off at a house.

Be careful. If the box is bigger than the dimensions listed, it might not fit in their truck properly.
I bought a bumper from an s2ki member, and it was shipped via FedEx Ground. The box was too big so they took the bumper out of the box to put it on the truck for delivery. The bumper was damaged in delivery (paint got scuff marks that wouldn't come out and the paint cracked in one spot).
FedEx wouldn't cover the insurance because they blamed the company that boxed it, the company that boxed it wouldn't cover it because they blamed FedEx ... In the end, I wasted my money buying a bumper that now has to be repainted.

Wait, fedex actually opened your package?
I work for fedex express and when I worked in the warehouse there were very regularly boxes with bumpers and what not in them that were huge. I dont know how it is done at fedex ground, but i have seen people get fired for being a little rough with a box, much less opening them. That is actually huge breech of policy for us that is punishable with termination. Ground may be different though as it is a different company. Normally boxes that are bumpers or large car panels are put through a non conveyable sort which is actually much more gentle as it never gets put onto a conveyor belt where I would estimate 90% of damage comes from. I guess if fedex wont ship it for you then, i know dhl ships stuff that big. Same for UPS. I would try calling around to all the freight carriers in your area and going from there. good luck man.

oh, well i believe a pickup might have a size dimension due to the vans not being as big. I'm about 75% sure there is a charge for a pickup anyway and it would probably save you a few dollars if you took it to the station anyway. On top of that, it shouldn't be too hard to get to to a station if you or a friend have a fullsize car. I mean i fit 2 greddy exhaust boxes and 2 racing seats in my moms accord. Granted it took a little maneuvering and some creativity, but it all fit in there just fine.
