Default Shipping Hardtop? Anyone Done This

Im am trying to buy a hardtop but the seller will not ship. I have a friend there however that can pick it up for me. So Next problem how to get it from point A to point B???? Has anyone shipped a hardtop and if so what is any recommended methods to ship and package as well as carrier to use?
Pictures could be useful too if anyone has any.

I know that no one wants to ship these so posts saying "you shouldn't do this or whatever" will not be needed because I will be making the decision based on this if I should or should not go through with this.

Thank You

-Eric

By the time you get it picked up crated and shipped you might have another $600 or $700 on top of the price of the hardtop.

I know they come to the dealer in a very large wooden crate.

i did it a loooong time ago. dad and i ended up building a wooden crate with supports inside to keep the top from moving. usually packages that large require freight or trucking companies. i used forward air and it wasnt cheap. it was a pita... i dont blame the guy for not wanting to ship it. try finding a local one if i were you.

Do I hear "Road Trip"?

What you can spend in shipping you can spend on a nice little road vacation and still have fun in the process.

I just had one shipped from private seller. Damaged in shipping
I still have the box if you want it.
I think it could have been packaged up a little better, I'm taking it as a loss that I will repair/ have repaired later.
Mine was shipped through Conway shipping I would use them again.

Haven't installed it yet (driving the truck until all the snow is gone) and there are a couple of dents in it so when I do take pics I might have to touch them up a bit

VIS packages their hardtops with enough bubble wrap and styrofoam to make a small house
Terrible for the environment.
