Default Shocks?

I am looking to get new shocks for my MY 02. I am currently running the eibach pro kit with stock shocks and was wondering which shocks would be optimal to use. Also if you can give me a ballpark of how much they will run. Thank you for your time in advance.

Theod

Unless you have a problem that needs a solution, I find that the stock shocks are optimal for my street driving needs. The Koni yellows are a popular replacement (~$200 per corner), but they aren't that different than OEM. You can go high end ($1-2k per corner), but unless you know the valving requirements for your particular need, it's a big waste of money.

I'm sticking with stock until they no longer perform properly, usually after about 50-75k miles. At that point I'll likely look for an inexpensive set of take-off OEM.

What are you trying to fix? Changing things without a plan is simply money wasted. Too many folks seem to have disposable income that they can't wait to get rid of. Me? I have a front swaybar, primarily for autocrossing. The rest of the money I could have spent has been used for cameras, computers, dinners and many other things that make life more enjoyable...

Hey Theod,

I had the same setup as you, until I replaced my worn out OEM shocks with Koni Yellows. While I was able to use the OEM shocks for over 60k miles AFTER swapping in the Eibachs, I could tell that they were way too soft for a long time.

Adding the Konis has reminded me of just how stiff the original shocks WERE, and I now have the option of adjusting stiffness to best suit the situation (although I can see me setting it up the way I want it and leaving it).

Koni gets a big thumbs up.

Thanks Guys. I am just trying to replace the shocks because after a year of lowering its just killed the stock stocks on my opinion. In addition I got a little bit of a rubbing problem and I am hoping stiffer shocks will reduce that a bit.

I would highly recommend the Koni's. I just installed them on my 03 w/ rs-r ti2000 springs and the car feels great. IMO, they are much stiffer then stock, and provides much more predictable cornering.
