I am going to convert the doors of my car so that they turn into wings and the taillights will be jet boosters and the HID's will shoot lasers and there will be skis that come out of the bottom and it will be bulletproof with a tractor beam.

I hate the fact that alot of people that have voiced there opinions here are the people's opinions that I respect highly.

However, on this topic I am a bit disappointed for those people knocking lil_ant's opinions. A show car is an expression of what the owner finds beuatiful in his/her car. When outside opinions are thrown at someone harshly, that person then may become timid to express any new opinions in the future, limiting those expressions is detrimental.

Could you imagine if someone silenced Rick H. and his ideas he's come up with? Where would the S2K community be without his ideas and his "stuff"

Anyway, ant, yes it's possible to do Lambo-style doors for the S2K. . .it will cost a pretty penny. I know for a fact there was a CRX owner that did it to his CRX, but it cost him somewhere over $20,000 to get it done. It looked very nice, but he ended up selling it (I think on e-Bay).

If you're thinking about doing gull-wing type doors, then it will be impossible with the soft top, but very possible with the hard top, but again it will cost an arm and a leg.

Just remember in the automotive world, almost anything is possible as long as you have to funds to make it possible.

If you're looking for my opinion on this topic here it is: Even if I had the money and another S2K to tinker with to make into a show car, I don't think I'd do the Lambo-style doors or even the gullwing doors. What I would possibly try is suicide doors. I happen to find suicide doors to have an elegant, classy look to older cars. I think that it would be a value-add mod to the S2K for the show scene.

My $0.02

Luder, there are reasons we think he is a troll...he's the one who offered to see JDM headlights at $300 bucks a set. Yeah, and I'm sure he's getting a Skyline as well.

Remember, Luder, beuatiful is in the eye of the beholder. The door thing is a beautiful way to FU a perfectly wonderful automobile. Rick's leather stuff, for instance, enhance the beauty of the stook and are admirable, but gullwing doors? I guess it would be fairly unique, however, since I've never seen a convertible with gullwing doors. Give me a break!

Now if you were going to convert to a front door opening (hinged at rear) to make it more like the old classic sports style look, I might actually like that. Gullwing? Please don't do it!

Luder, it is simple. He asked. First he asked if he should and when not satisfied with a simple no, asked why not. If you dont ask I wont tell you what I think or why I think that way. If you do, be prepared for an answer you might not like. There are always two possible outcomes: you agree or disagree. If you ask you must be prepared for both posabilities. Lots of others have moded their cars in ways I wouldn't but they don't ask if I approve and since it is their car, I don't tell them what I think.

To coin a cliche, Don't ask the question if you don't want the answer.

It's obvious the ridiculous statements made in these posts are a metaphor for the likelihood of the poster achieving his objective of fitting vertically raising doors to the S2k. Most of it is said tongue-in-cheek with the poster leaving clues as to the tone of the message like this

Each to their own.
Everyone has their taste. Can you imagine if Henry Ford had designed and sold S2Ks?

"Yes, you can have any color you want as long as it is black"

Now that would be boring, only black S2Ks. How long do you think it would take before you saw every color under the rainbow? About as long as it would take to make the body shop appointment.

Sometimes, we are too harsh with our responses. Lack of visual and audible clues also cause comments to seem more harsh than they are intended. Those are some of the dangers of e-mail and web boards.

Lighten up everyone! Drive you cars, mod them as you wish. Do it for yourself, make your statement.

As for myself, some leather goods, strut brace, aeroscreen, maybe speakers, maybe wheels and a few other functional mods are about as far is I will go. I like the S2K as is, that is why I bought it. Reminds me of my motorcycle, except it has four wheels and if a storm pops up I can still stay dry.
