Base. No convertible top does it for me. Unless you track the car, you won't really get any additional enjoyment out of the CR.

CR

Dropping the top is so overrated. I'll take an S2000 coupe any day.

If you're a big baller - just buy the CR and have a softtop installed - in essence making a USDM Type S. You could sell the CR cover on here and put it towards a softtop setup - and I've seen complete setups, motors, frame, top on here before. I don't know how much it would run to have a dealer do it but money talks. Best of both worlds.
Actually its more than just removing the cover in order for a soft top to fit. There is also a rear brace that is in the way for the soft top. You can remove it, but you loose some rear stiffness.

CR for me. i was a fool that didnt wait to see the CR before buying. dont be like me... but then again i like my AC and my convertible top so i'm going for the best of both worlds... CR parts for the base ap2!!! best of both worlds! i personally think that they over over charge for the CR for what you get... but its a REALLY nice car... IMO just not worth what they're charging.....

As the other poster said, If Honda made an S2000 coupe, I'd take the coupe over the vert any day of the week. CR in black, please.

I wouldn't take the CR over a base S2k even for a weekend toy. With the money you save buying a regular S2k, you can get mods that will make it smoke a CR in a straight line or around a track. That extra second around a track the CR has over a base S2k is easily made up with Bilstein PSS9s, decent wheels/tires, and I/H/E/tune.

I think we need to recognize that when comparing a modded vehicle to stock, a fair comparison is not possible. Stock vs. stock is the only way to compare. With the above logic, you should never buy a new S2000. You can buy a 2000 S2k for $10k and put $20k worth of mods into it and destroy all. Or better yet, a $2k Civic hatch and $28k worth of mods. I know, it sounds silly, but just trying to get a point across.

I like the CR, because it is built with the track in mind. Just like the Integra Type R I used to own. Shigeru Uehara's last gift to Honda (the chief engineer of the S2000, NSX and Integra Type R). Now, I just need to decide if I should plunk down the cash to get one!
