Should I buy or wait for ...
I just encountered a gorgeous Honda 2007 S2000 with less than 20k miles. I have always loved these cars. I have owned multiple Z cars over the years and eventually gave my last one up and have been riding motorcycles for the past several years. Lately, I have been serious considering the possibility of the new generation Mazda MX-5 that will soon be unveiled in September. BUT, I still always snap my neck when I see a S2000 driving down the road. I have a opportunity to just go ahead and buy a low mileage S2000 and be done with it. It is gorgeous. What to do? Should I wait for a new Miata or buy a used 2007 S2000? The price would ultimately be about the same. Maybe a few hundred dollars less for the S2000.
If you really have to ask this question, you should buy the Mazda.
Leave the S2k for someone who will really appreciate it.
If you are really looking for confirmation that the S2k is the only way to go, consider it confirmed, & enjoy the Honda.

Well, do you want a sports car or a softer, underpowered 2 seat convertible? Drive both if you feel the need, but it was, and still is, an easy decision for me to make.
Actually the fact that you drove z cars and motorcycles and love the look of the s2000, I'd go with an s2000 especially if you could afford the maintinance and (worst case scenario) repair costs. If you got a miata, I suspect that you will always wonder "what if?" Whenever you pass a s2000. Drive the s2k and a newer miata and see which you enjoy. Keep in mind the upcoming miata should be better than the current generation.

Thanks for the replies. I should have an opportunity to test drive the car soon and I will post my experience and decision. I have no doubt that the car will put a smile on my face and the power will be something I like, especially compared to a MX-5 of which I have driven. That is actually one of the reasons I ask because clearly I did not fall in love with the MX-5 after driving it but I do know it could be easily modded. I have never driven an S2000 so clearly I do not know how it feels but I have heard they rev very high and it does not really come into its own until you get the revs up. I have even heard comparisons of the S2000 to driving a motorcycle without a helmet on more than 1 occasion. I need to find out for myself. I was just wanting some insightful input from a knowledgeable audience before doing so.
