Should I get this one?
Hi everybody, this is my first post but I have been lurking here for a LONG time. I've been a huge fan of the S2000 ever since the very first time I laid eyes on her way back in '99. I love everything about the car, the 9000rpm redline, the convertible top, the way it looks, the way it handles, and on and on and on...
Well, the time is here and I am ready to finally own one for myself. I've looked at one '00 and another '01 and I'm really stuck on what to do? Both cars have 24,000 miles and both are Silverstone with black interior. The problem with the '00 is that the maintenance light was on the whole time and the owner couldn't provide an explanation when asked about it. There were a few other things I didn't like so I pretty much ruled that one out.
Today I test drove the '01 and I am almost ready to buy this one. However, a few things about the car concern me. The suspension has been completely replaced because of an accident that happened while the owner was swerving to avoid another vehicle. I took it for a spin and it felt great and supposedly it's as good as new. The frame was not bent and he had all the paperwork which showed that everything had been professionally replaced with all stock parts. Should I be concerned about this?
Also, the rear plastic window looks pretty bad. It was all patchy with white spots and just didn't look very appealing. Basically, it needs to be replaced. I got a quote from Honda for $240 plus another $560 to install. So that's another $800 on top of the $20,000 asking price. The car also had a few dings but nothing that Dent Wizard can't fix for a few hundred bucks.
The two small dings in the door and the plastic window don't concern me too much but that suspension is really bothering me. Do you guys think $20,000 is a good deal for an '01 with 24,000 miles with the replaced suspension? Or should I steer clear of this one and keep looking?
Thanks for any input,
Miklo.

You've waited 5 years for the perfect S2000....what's another month or two?
I don't think that is an awful deal, but you could probably do better. Offer them 18 and see if they bite. That is probably the most you should pay, 19 if you are having a really hard time finding one. In short *I* definately wouldn't pay that much for that car. Good luck!
Pass...definitely.
"The frame wasn't bent" is what they'll tell you but how do you really know until you have a computer check it?
And did you ask or did they offer that info?
Cuz if they just said it, they are more likely to be covering it up.
You can get a 2001 with 24k miles for around $20k...just keep looking.
You've waited 5 years...why f it up now?

You simply MUST come to Sac2kdays this saturday. You just might find the owner of one selling.
follow this link. It's in Elk Grove.

As far as a maintainence light being on, well they are just a pain in the butt. They are simply to remind you to change your oil, and too often the dealer doesn't clear them even after service.
