Saab9-3, sounds like the S2000 would still be the best choice for you. You might want to test drive a used 2004 and see how you like the increased torque and lower redline. Maybe it won't be so bad after all, it's still a great car for $30k.

In my opinion the 04 is an upgrade to the 03 + prior. Before you rule out an o4/05 spend some time in one. The wheels alone out weigh the 8k vs. 9k rpm.

I have driven some of the nicest cars ever produced. The S2000 stands tall.

What's the reasoning behind your claim about 00-01>02? Most of the differences were cosmetic (trim pieces, glass rear window, etc.), but I have heard of slight differences in the susp. and ecu.

Are the new wheels lighter? Or do you mean from a purely aesthetic perspective? I personally prefer the older wheels, actually.

Sorry but I don't think I could live without a glass rear window.

I just sold my SLK55 over the weekend and now I am trying to figure out what to get. I absolutely loved my s2000 for the 3 years and 60,000 miles I spent with it, but I am worried that after playing with 362 hp and, more importantly, 376lb/ft torque, the S will feel a little slow. Now, don't get me wrong, I did not like the s2k just because it was fast- I consistently drove it at 9/10 and appreciated the car as the incredibly complete package that it is. BUT I owned an '02, and I do not like the lower redline, lighter clutch, and revised suspension in the '04+ models. I would love to just find an untitled '03, but I don't think that would happen.

So, I guess my question is: what would you do if you were in my situation- would you get the S and just hope it didn't let you down in the power department, or would you look for something else?

P.S. Reliability is a must, so I don't want to deal with the complications associated with supercharging the S.
FWIW, I bought a brand new 03 last December.

Should I go back to the s2000?

It sounds to me like you might be happier somewhere else.

Let's not make this a "which model year(s) are better" thread... everyone has their own opinions on that one.

Saab - maybe you should look at a C class benz? I drove a C230 Kompressor sedan recently and it was a really nice car. great 6 speed manual, much better than most of them.
