Default Have you removed your windshield tape?

I have seen some stooks with the tape removed and they look great. I've also heard that sometimes the factory doesn't paint all of the metal around the windshield, and there can be unpainted metal under the tape.

I thought there may be a pattern, by VIN, in determining which stooks have a painted windshield frame and which ones don't.

I have the MY2001 #5233

Thanks everyone...

The only thing holding me back is I'm afraid what it's like underneath. When I was at Rick's meet back in April, there was a guy there with a yellow stook and tape off, his paint was damaged.

I don't think it looks good without, it is there because honda deigners tried to keep all the upper part of the car black. I even thought about having black side mirrors...
But if you never put the top up, then maybe it makes sense to remove the tape....

At work there are a lot of Myatas, and my red stook. I compare the windshield frames (the Myatas are all painted the body color vs. the black frame on the stook) and my clear preference is the black frame. I would never take the tape off my car.

I love the way that Honda implemented the windshield frame treatment. By using tape rather than paint, each of us can choose which way we want it to look without spending any real effort or money to change it.

Personally, I prefer the black, but its an individual choice.

Tape is what you put on a broken pipe or striped wire, not to cover up a beautiful car. It looks so much better removed. What were they thinking? Sure if you ride with your top up all the time it might be okay. I can't see how anyone could prefer the look of plastic tap over paint. Those that do can change colors anytime by going to ACE and buying the color tape of there choice.
