Default Should I sell my AP1 S2000 or not?

Hello everyone

I have S2000 2001 AP1. It has 168k miles on it but everything is perfect. I've been driving it since september. Its black color.
I am thinking to sell my car a good price and after that again I will buy ap1 s2000 but low mileage. What do you think about that?
Or
I will buy CR Rims, I will change the soft top (it has leak), I will do some good things on it and use it forever.

Please give me idea to think about that. This situation is killing me

I'd keep it. You know its recent history and issues. You also save yourself the trouble of finding a low mileage S for the money you want to spend. In the end it sounds like you are going to probably want to change the wheels anyway and the top is hit or miss.

When I bought it I asked this question previous owner: Why mileage is so high? He answered my "I was 3rd person bought this car, I just drove it like 2 months or less, I would never sell it but I have to sell it. I heard that this car has been driving on far destinations so its been on highways" He told me like that.

When I bought it there were oil leaks and vtec oil leaks and I fixed everything. I might keep it as you said but I am not sure because it is very complicated.

Don't get hung up on the mileage. You've barely had this car long enough to think about selling it, especially since you've already spent time correcting a few things. Do a compression/leak down test (which you should've done before buying it IMO) if the mileage scares you. As long as everything checks out, you'll be fine. Spending money on another AP1 just because it has less miles if kind of throwing money to the wind if you ask me.

OP, you need to read the 100k+ mileage thread in this section of the forum. There are some with 200+k miles on their S without major issues. Were I in your shoes, I'd keep the car, especially since you've already put a little work into it. Just switch the wheels and put a new top on, it's a lot less than finding another AP1.

Good luck!

You guys are right. Thanks for your comments.

Also in my current S, it has invidia dual exhaust (I think it is catback), K&N air intake.

Okay, I am gonna decide to keep it or not but probably I will keep it.

Buying list:

- Stainless headers (I don't know the brand name, I just found it on eBay which is $150)
- AP2V3 Wheels
- AP2 Oem Lip
- AP2 Radio cover
- New Soft top

I'm at 158k and I have NO plans of selling her.

Fix your little issues and save up for an OEM rebuild when she starts burning enough oil.

I'm in the same bind but not because of mileage, I just want a white one but I am worried I might sell mine and get one with problems

It has been years since I posted here, but I still have my 2000 AP1. I am the original (and only) owner and the car just reached the 174,000 mile marker. I thought it worth commenting as it has been my daily driver since October 1999, and I still use it that way. Unfortunately, there is not enough time in the day to list all the mods implemented as well as all the various issues I have faced and resolved. I will briefly talk about the biggest issue. My car was running with a Greddy Turbo for a good 6 years until I was finally forced to remove it and go back to stock. My original engine threw a bearing at some point over the last couple of years, but I stubbornly limped the car around all this time unwilling to throw even more money at it... until recently. The engine has been rebuilt by Laskey racing and I am once again _thrilled_ to be driving a mostly stock original AP1! Even after all these years the car puts a smile on my face. It was never this fast NA, as the Laskey built engine puts down a bit more power than my old engine did when it was new in 1999. Why am I driving an engine built for about 700 whp with a stock S2000? Well, I was planning on getting a properly made turbo kit this summer after the new engine is broken in, but I have since changed my mind. I am so glad I had Laskey keep the stock compression ratio. The car drives just like the day I drove it off the lot 13 years ago.

I have gotten used to the absence of boost, and I would NEVER sell this beautiful car. I would miss it too much. If you are lucky enough to have this car in your life, hold on to it just like you would a good woman. Just don't forget to buy her something special every now and then to keep her happy.

I admit it is easier to live with an NA S2000 when my weekend car is a GT-R. I'm pretty sure I'd still keep it NA though.

Na is how Honda built the car ...its for a reason ...I think Honda knows a little bit more than us when building a car ...so I just leave it to them and trust they know better ...except in the exhaust and intake dept
