Good thing he didn't spin the car into a divider or anything. What's an AP2's max MPH in 2nd? That'll tell us something about how hard he took the 90 degree right. He couldn't have done it at 55+ mph, could he?

My guess is he was going 45-50 MPH when he went to second gear

at 45-50 he wouldn't have redlined 2nd. Don't know off the top of my head, but AP2 redlines just under 60mph in 2nd.

Redlines at about 95km/h

or it could have been moderadly bad which cracked or stretched a retainer which will eventually let the keeper fall through and drop a valve into the cylinder.

.. but I don't want to make you worry
Based on what Billman has said I don't think stretched retainers are apt to be an issue with the AP2.

As XViper said, it's impossible to guess about the potential for damage without more information. Lacking that all you can do is drive the car and see what happens.

This is another good argument for installing one of Modifry's shift beepers. The high-RPM memory would tell us how badly the motor had been over reved (if indeed it was over reved).

Is there a way on Honda ECU's to use a data reader to see what the max RPM logged is?
Might be helpful to know conclusively.

Thanks everyone for all the help btw.

Till now, the answer was no. But with the '06, can't say for sure, since it's the first ECU in an S2000 that is "flashable". Maybe "Slows2k" can answer this.

What's changed in the AP2's to prevent the retainers from splitting?

The F22C has thicker retainers (and different valve springs).
