Default Side Strakes

Are my side strakes normal? The strakes were installed by the factory but I've noticed that the tip of the both strakes aren't firmly bound to the body. Also, I'm curious as to why my front lip seems to have a tape lining over the rubber sealant.

The rubber seal looks like maybe it has been shot over with a clear coat? Did you buy the car new? Mine just looks like a regular ol rubber seal.

I purchased the car from the first owner who had all of this installed at either the dealership or from the factory.

I wonder if the front of the car had to be repainted and they did it with the lip on. Thats the only thing I can think of. Does it scrape off or is it cracking?

Or...maybe the first guy had it machine polished and they polished the rubber trim piece?

pretty crappy install on the strakes. they should be tight against the body.

I'll definitely get the side strakes reinstalled then. However I'm still curious as to why the front lip has a tape-like substance over the sealant

Does the rubber sealant for the front lip come with a tape lining?
