Default Simple question about stock stereo head unit

I can't find the specs for the RMS for 4 channels on the stock unit - anyone know?

Thinking of moving to an Alpine or Pioneer unit pushing 50W x 4 peak (think it's about 21 RMS x 4). I already have Eclipse speakers front and rear so was wondering how much difference in power I'll see over stock with this type of new head unit.

i also do not know but it would definatly be under 21w rms. its probably not going to make enough difference so you will be able to hear it good while driving with the top down. i would consider getting the ehad unit and getting a seperate amplifier for either 50w x4 or 75. arent ecplise speakers rated to 75 x4 anyway? If I had to guess i would say the stock one is 10.

I think the stock 2000-2001 is 10W, and 2002 is upgraded 20W.

You can check the electronics forum for more info. I recently upgraded to a 7400 Pioneer (thursday). It is great. You can check out lucidautomotive to keep those console radio controls working.

if you get a100 watt amp to push your 6.5, you will have great sound. I have a RFG 100 4omz amp right now.

That's most likely peak power at 10% THD. There is NO way my MY00 is pumping own 20W-RMS to each of my front door speakers!! I would bet the stock units RMS wattage to be 10 watts or less (and even then the THD will still be high). Replacing the stock unit with a decent aftermarket one, like a Pioneer, should yield very noticable results.

Hello,

thanks Jshahan for this info : 4x20W for MY00 but is it Max or RMS ?
And why 4channels ? There are only two speakers !

Is it the same for Europe ?

Thank you
Philippe
