Default Skipping gears while downshifting

I know that skipping gears while upshifting is bad, but what about during downshifting, say, to go around a corner? For example, can I go fm 5th to 3rd or 2nd without causing undue stress to the car?

Thanks,

The risk is very high.

Unless you know your 100% your safe from over reving it don't do it.

Besides, if you find yourself needing to skip on a downshift you weren't planning your entry properly or you got slow hands n feet :-D I'm just teasing ya bro.

double clutching for over-taking or if you braking for a turn (heel and Toe) will keep those syncros happy

To be clear, when I said going from 5th to 3rd, I will have used the break to slow down the vehicle first before considering the gear change.

I skip gears when downshifing sometimes, but then I also rev match so it is less stress on the transmisison. Atleast I think it is... Someone correct me if I'm wrong

Not an issue if done correctly.

In that case, rev match will work best and upon entry. Not in the middle of the turn. :-)

So, as long as rev matching is done, skipping gears during downshifting is o.k., correct?

Almost 6 years of ownership and 80k miles says yea. Multiple tranny/diff changes showed no metal flakings on magnetic bolts or any issues whatsoever.

Just don't dump it in 2nd while in VTEC in 5th to blow the damn thing, and have fun
