Skunk 2 Throttle Body
I am looking to buy a Skunk 2 throttle body, but I am confused as to what are the best options before closing the deal. I believe that this one is a 68mm model that is available from skunk. I have seen 70mm models from other manufacters. How much will the 2mm difference affect the horsepower gain? Is this even a legit upgrade? Where can I find the best price?
I think its a negligable difference, not worth the price for N/A tunes and probably a little better for F/I. I only replaced mine because my TPS went bad and honda wont replace just that sensor and the after market TBs are cheaper
I have heard aftermarket T/B's increase throttle response greatly but do not net hp gains if any. I have an TB and ported IM on my old vehicle. I didn't have it dyno'd but it was one of my favorite mods. It made the car feel alive and very responsive.
I purchased the Skunk 2 70MM TB. Firstly it was a great deal on the pricing and second it offered something others don't. I live in the south and usually don't drive the car in excessivly cold weather and my car is garaged. I prefaced this statement with those for this reason. The Skunk 2 TB elimiates the cooling lines from running through it. Honda does a one fits all, meaning that the stock TB works in all climates, thus the need for the cooling lines. If the car is located in the north and is a daily dirver than the Skunk may not be the best for you. The cooling lines that run through the OEM TB are there for cold weather startup, similar to a choke.
We are all looking for ways to get more cold air into our engines, so why would we want hot coolant running through the TB warming up the air that is flowing through it?. The Skunk 2 TB comes with a piece of rubber tubing so you can do the coolant bypass.
I did not put the TB on for HP gains, but more for better thottle response and that is exactly what I got. I am extrmrly happy with the Skunk 2 and would highly recommend it, even if you live in a cold climate, because you can always change back to the OEM TB when cold weather returns.
Good Luck.

Do you have a link to the 70mm? All I could find for the S2 was the 68mm. I have an AEM V2 cold air intake, will it still connect without mods? I thought skunk also made an intake manifold to replace the stocker.

Here is where I got mine: http://www.hybrid-performance.com/ They were about $10.00 less than anyone else I looked at. The Skunk is a really nice looking piece and as I said works great.
If you can mate to the stock TB it will work with the Skunk2 70MM. You will just have to do the bypass of the coolant lines which does not have any effect on CAI.
I just looked on the Skunk web site & they don't make an intake manifold for the "S".
Good luck and let me know what you think.
