Default small question regarding the S2000 weight.

i found a very good deal for a OEM hardtop.

the weight of the hardtop is 44lbs

my question is that adding hardtop to my S2000 will reduce the performance of my car.

thanks

Yes it will reduce performance since you are adding more weight. Some people counter the loss by not filling their gas tank to full capacity.

Buy the hardtop and add on 45 pounds and strip out the POC softop and lose 75 pounds thus loosing a total of 30 pounds with the installation of the hardtop and removal of the softop. Get it, got it, good!!!

If the hard top effects the performance of your car I don't think you'll notice it, other than being quieter.

You can probably remove some of the weight of the hardtop by removing the interior lining. Also, as already mentioned, if you're leaving the hardtop on year-round, you can remove the soft top, and you'll be lighter than stock. You can also do other things to shed weight if you're really that worried about it.

Honestly, though, unless you are tracking the car competitively, I don't think you should really worry about 45 lbs. You won't really be able to notice it. And if you're tracking the car competitively, you'll probably be removing the soft-top and lots of other stuff, so the car will end up much lighter than stock.

I've heard claims of the chassis being stiffer... like the "Shoebox" idea.

Much worth the 45lb weight gain if you ask me!

45lb is nothing. My weight can vary as much, depending on my bowel movements. There is no noticeable difference in performance between pre- and post-bowel movement.
