Smaller Pulley for Comptech SC
Hello,
I just purchased a used Comptech SC and would like to buy a smaller pulley for additional power. What have people had the most success with and where can I buy something like this?
I've done a search and found very little information so far. All of your help is greatly appreciated.
Thank You,
PJ

Call Comptech and get their thoughts - that is the safe response. Competch runs mild boost, which gives more reliability and longevity. Higher boost and you start getting into head gaskets, cylinder head bolt/stud strength issues, not to mention the strain on the block and internals.
On my SC'd car, too small a pulley will overspin the blower, and the power gains beyond a certain point actually fall off. It does up the torque in the lower RPM range though. But that is for a Roots-type blow - the Comptech is centrifugal, right? The SVT guys had to go with a an iron-block to get the 100k reliability they needed, at 8 PSI. There are guys running over 20 PSI ont he street with no probs yet, other than some snapped halfshafts and diffs.
Another approach that may or may not work on the Honda is a smaller lower pulley, which is often more reliable and less likely to chew up belts.

The SC is on my SVT Cobra. I must not have been clear - see my sig. u still got your TL? Did they fix the trannies? Y'all miss me over there? I have been hanging at www.svtperformance.com as "Cobra'03".
Sup man!! I totally didn't put 2 and 2 together when I saw your s2k screenname!
the TL site is turning domestic on me ... too lame for my tastes... i'm TL_Type_S on the Cl-forum... more boy-racers on there, much more interesting discussions of all makes/models... also many people that are realists and know their sh**.
How's the SVT treating you .. must suck to have such a fast car, eh?

Btw... trannies are still dying ... for the '02 TL-S boyz that is.. the '03 seems to have resolved the issue for the MOST part... i got the mod bug recently, as you can tell by my sig .. CT springs are on the way ...
I'll sign onto that cobra site and feel out the crowd there.. i hope I won't get assaulted w/ non-DO-mestic on that forum....
