smoke from front after launch
hey guyz... i was practicing my launch today, and i revd it pretty high, about 5-6k i think, and i dumped the clutch and i wasnt going anywhere, and when i looked at the rev meter it was in the 9krpm zone bouncing back and forwards in redline... i think i over rev the engine...
and i could smell some smoke or something that was burning in the car, so i got out, and there was smoke coming out from the front of the car...
i'm not too sure what this is, can someone help me? my friends said it smelt like the breaks, but i didnt use my breaks at all... any ideas?

Congrats. You just took about 20,000 miles worth of life off your clutch.
you didn't hurt the engine. it was your clutch that was slipping. you probably glazed it good. so NO MORE LAUNCHES for at least several hundred miles. you need to give the clutch time to "recover". even then, it may never be strong enough again to do launches.
my guess is you didn't get your foot off the clutch fast enough.

are u serious that i took about 20,000miles off the life of my clutch!!
the clutch was replaced a couple months ago, so its still fairly new, but at the moment it still drives fine, the friction point is still about the same before i 'fried' my clutch :S
oh yeh, sometimes when i ride the clutch, it gives out a fishy smell.. its different to the smell of when i 'fried' it... lol... would what i did be the same as riding the clutch?
