Snap oversteer = Insensitive driver, your butt will tell you what the car is doing at all times. Hans Stuck one of the greatest sportscar drivers of all time told me this years ago at a IMSA race , I never forgot it.

Like some of the above posts have said , lack of skill from drivers refusing to think their driving is sub par has people making excuses for not controlling their cars. Almost as stupid when you hear someone say the brakes locked up, huh. As a driver you are supposed to be in control not the other way around. The car won't do anything you are not directing it to do.

I hope you're joking...
Take this with a grain of salt, but I have heard that S-02's can become slightly unpredictable at their limit because of their overly square shoulders. The square shoulders aren't as progressive as the shoulders on the S-03's for example.

But, I've never had S-02's on my car so I can't confirm that...

Regardless, this is a ridiculous statement...

"snap oversteer is attributed to tires on this vehicle, namely S-02's"

HAH! Tell you guys something funny...

I threw a party over the weekend for the local BMW track guys/buddies and
assorted car friends. One of them is a complete M Coupe enthusiast, and
nothing comes close to perfection as his car in his opinion. Never goes to
the track, but has modded his M Coupe as all get out. Strut bar here, strut
bar there, spring and shocks mis-matched, sways, intake, exhaust, ecu,
flywheel, extreme amount of neg camber for streets, yada yada...

He's standing in my kitching talking to 3 of us who track our cars, and asked
me "so you wanna get an S2000 huh?"

Me: "Yup, been thinking about one for track duty and weekend fun."

"You getting one of the new ones?"

Me: "Nope, gonna look for an '02 or '03... I like the stiffer suspension, higher
redline...."

He cuts me off "yeah but the new one has a little bit more low end torque and just
as fast as the old one... they softened the suspension to cure the oversteering
problem.... that car is too diam twitchy."

Me: "Well, coming from an E46 M3, I'm looking for a car that is extremely
responsive, twitchy, and nimble."

"I test drove one of those a while back... you know that freeway onramp
that kinda loops around? Well, I was going in a little too fast so I lifted and
the diam rear end started coming around."

One of the track buddies cut in "Nooo.. you're not supposed to lift in a turn...
and you'd have known that if you'd gone to the track."

"Yeah, well, I'd still kick your azz...."

LOLZ!

Bottom line, bad drivers = bad results.

I'm in complete agreement with Barry Winfield. See his quote below.

So you stated something as fact that you have no first hand knowledge of? Nice....Well, let me correct you then. I tracked my car for two years on OEM S02's and they're fine, even at the "limit", a word used a little too loosely around here.

No, that's why I said "I heard" and also put in the disclaimers "take this with a grain of salt" and "i have never had S-02".

I don't think I claimed it was fact, but thanks for the flame

Uh, no. Here's your first post in it's entirety:

" snap oversteer is attributed to tires on this vehicle, namely S-02's"

This statement comes off such that a reasonable person would think you had some ACTUAL knowledge of what you were talking about. Only when someone called you on it and asked if you were joking did you come clean and say that you actually had no clue if it was true.

I suggest you re-read this entire thread, and maybe you'll find out that you've got the wrong person.

Thank you, come again.
