Ive heard from several people that they have bought their S2000's at Penske Honda in Ontario California for msrp. Well i called Penske today and they are selling MY 2001 for MSRP but they are putting forced options on it. These options include lowjack, body kit, spoiler. The guy also told me that the wind screen was an option. This will raise the price up some 3 to 4 grand. Has anyone actually purchased their vehicles at Penske for just MSRP? Any suggestions where I can go to purchase the S2000 in So Cali for msrp would be greatly appreciated.

I just posted a response about my experience with Lojack in: http://www.s2000online.com/forums/showthre...?threadid=1612. IMO, if the dealer tries to sell it to you as an option, tell him you don't want it, or ask him to change it for an option that you'd really want. Lojack is almost a waste of money because of the short response time available to you in the L.A. area. If you went to the movies, the car would be down to nuts and bolts by the time you got out!

I bought mine at Penske with no forced options. I heard (from others on this board) that they try to force the options, but when I bought mine, they told me they stopped doing that. Maybe it's because it the new model and they will stop after the first couple.

The guy I dealt with was Ken Seigner (sp?) and they didn't give me any hassles. I had a great experience.

Good Luck

The windscreen and floor mats are standard for 2001 as well as a clock. These are the three changes from 2000.

Leo, you live in LCF? I work at that big government compound on "wink" you know where near the LCF High School.

Call up Pasadena Honda, get a quote. If they give you the run around, I'll have a talk with the owner's wife who runs Internet deals.

I just picked mine up from Penske Honda in Ontario this weekend after a 6-month wait. I was able to get no forced options, but they certainly tried.

It sounds like the car they are offering is the one on the lot right now. It's been there for 3 weeks--it's red/black with $5K in options (rear spoiler @ $1K, side strakes @ $1K, front spoiler @ $1K, CD changer @ $1K, and something else @ $1K).

My salesman said after the 10 committed S2000's they are no longer allowing ordering--the remaing 8 are for the showroom, presumably with lots of options.

In waiting for the car, and playing the forced options game, I looked around for a better deal but wasn't able to find one. Sorry. From what I can tell, the smaller dealers tend to gouge as they are only allotted a couple per year. You might try a larger one like Norm Reeves Honda in Cerritos.

Leo,

I just talked to my buddy that works at Honda corporate. He says the Norm Reeves sells them for sticker. You might get some forced options though, but they might have a few taht they'll sell you for sticker. My buddy told me that Norm Reeves doesn't mark up the car since they want to keep their #1 sales trophy. In order to do that, they have to sell a lot of cars every month. You might want to call them.

Norm Reeves is down in Cerritos.

yes, norm reeves does sell for msrp- but they have forced options... thats where i bought mine and i would do it again- i did pay more for the options than i would have paid other places. i viewed the markup on the options as a small additional price i had to pay for this great machine.
