Default So I might be picking up another "S" tonight

Some of you might remember me from this thread:

https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showt...hl=meloman&st=0

Anyways, from the pics you can see that my car was totaled, then someone here on the forums bought it and fixed it. I went out a few months later and bought g35 and didn't like it. Now, I sold the G35 to my brother (same one who totaled my S) and now I want another S.

I've gotten offers from local dealers of anywhere from $38,000 to $30,300. Coming from an '01 will the new engine satisfy my hunger for vtec (w/only 2k of it)? I know this has been discussed extensively but I thought I would ask again.

Thanks for any input.

go for a test drive. you also have to remember the 04 has some other goodies that you might want to remember while your purchasing your new s. such as, stronger rear dif., stronger (not too sure) synch, and not to mention the gobs of torque from that little 4 cyl engine.

on the side note, was the g35 coupe that bad? two of my friends went for a test drive and they came back laughing. both of my friends agreed the only thing good about the g35 coupe is the exhaust tone. i didn't really think it was bad as they stated, but perhaps they were correct.

The G35 isn't bad it all. It just doesn't handle the way that the S did... that's what I miss about it. I think it's over rated, but still a very nice car. Have to admit thought, that exhaust note is sweet.

Hi Meloman, I had an 01 before and now I have a 04. I almost bought a 03 because I thought the lower redline of the 04 would lose some of the fun. Once i drove the 04 though I was hooked. Its just as fun to drive in the high rpm range and has a much better pull through out the lower rpm range. The 17" wheels are great and the other changes are well done. Honda improved upon a car that was already exceptional without losing any of the fun factor IMHO. I paid 30,500 for mine but I've seen where some forum members have done a little better than that even. Good luck with your decision-you will feel great about getting back in an S.

I see this a lot here. If I prequalify this by saying my time spent at the track is less than 1% of my overall time spent driving my S....would the response be the same? Is that top end rpm reduction really that key here?

Personally, my '02 will be traded for an '05 within next 6 months. Having driven 02 for almost 50K miles (much of it somewhat agressively), I look forward to appreciating the trade-off you guys speak of. The one thing I've always said I wished would change about my 02 is the length of time it takes to get "out of the hole" at a stop light or freeway ramp. My test drives of the 04 reveal that Honda has improved that.

Why are you waiting for an '05? Are there any confirmed changes that make it worth your while? I'm just curious.

Temple of VTEC says the '05 is IDENTICAL to the '04.
