S2000 Talk Discussions related to the S2000, its ownership and enthusiasm for it.

So the SO2s are specifically for the S2000s?

Wow. After doing the whole babelfish thing on the website, I found a little bit of information that was interesting. Follow this link, and click "Translate" at the bottom.

Never thought I'd see Goodyear Eagle F1s on an S2000 for "High-speed stability and grip power."

Yep, straight from Honda Japan. It's funny that they made no mention of the SO2s.

What is the "W" speed rating anyway?

There are various speed ratings for tires and I believe it's either 'W' or 'Y' that's the highest..used to be 'Z' but no longer!

Acutally Z is the highest!! Look closely and you'll see all the ratings EXCEPT Z are given as "up to XXX mph" whereas Z is given as "XXX mph and over". That's the difference between V and Z ratings (since the both use the 149mph figure). Checkout: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tiretech/speed.htm . I previously made the same mistake you did...

I have to say, those SO2's are the best "performance" tire I have driven on!

The tires say 225 on the rear, but they are wide as heck! My Proxes T1-S 245/35/18's (a good street tire*) have an 8 inch wide tread to surface stretch, and the S02 225's have an 8 1/2!

*Toyo Proxes T1-S is decent for performance, but excellent for wet weather and longevity.

BlueS2000,

Something like that bud. I'm probably going for 255/35/18's next.

The stock S02's have a wide a$$ tread width. Almost wish I kept my stock Wheel and Tire combo...but I'm going for the looks and a medium tire longevity (UTG > 200).
