but i wanted to see which year consumers perfer best. unbiased opinions perferred.

IMO, for ap1, i was thinking maybe the 02 or 03 is better

and

for ap2, probably the 04 or 05 is better

please further educate my knowledge.

tell the year and why.

this will help me figure out which year s2k will be best fit for me to purchase soon.

AP2 for styling, AP1 for JDMing. I do not know much about ap1 but I do agree ap2 of 04-05 is better, cuz 06-07 has VSC and TCS which is for NooBz... No offense!!

MY02 - AP1 with 9K redline... This is the world renown car that the S2000 is famous for (IMO). Its somthing to bragg about, not that the AP2 isnt, but its just adds to the rarity factor. The glass window is a nice step up from plastic. The only thing I do not like about the AP1 or would change is have two tone seats!!!

MY04 - Styling... The AP2s 2.2L gives a little more power, but in my mind, its useless because of the cost. 8K redline But what ever floats your boat! The two tone seats are a really nice touch to the interior and car when top is down. The headlights are much more advanced looking and have better sight distance (for other cars, not you). Also... The wheels are bad-ass for stock.

im gonna have to agree the AP1 has that 9k redline which is sick but the AP2 has the better styling IMO as well. I had a choice between a berlina AP1 and the Silverstone AP2 and i took the AP2. Both cars are great but i prefer the AP2

nothin wrong with ap1 styling- some of us prefer it, especially with some minor mods, and the 9k is a big deal!

Wise words wanabe. Both are quite unique in there own way and honestly its all a matter of tastes...sooo this is basically a crap shoot. Drive one and get the car you like the most.

You're asking a bunch or people who own one or the other for an unbiased opinion? There are very few people who actually had to make the choice between AP1 and AP2 imo - they are those people who bought new in 2004 and had a choice of new 03 and 04 sitting on lots. There are also a few people who've owned both, and gone from AP1 to AP2 and vice versa. Most people bought AP1 because its older and thats what they could afford or AP2 because it was newer and in the showroom - nothing wrong with either btw, but realistically they have no experience in both cars, and you won't get unbiased opinions here. Try Edmunds.com for that.

To try and answer your question though, if I was going to gget an AP1 it would have been the 02-03. The major kinks were worked out,m the ECU was updated and there was a bit mor power, and they had the best interiors of the AP1s. For an AP2, I'd get an 04-05 simply to avoid the drive-by-wire, but if you want OEM stability control, the 06+ are the obvious choice.

If the S will be a second car that you will track or autocross, get an AP1, if its a daily driver or you aren't tracking it, get an AP2.
