soft top failure
After 5 years the top of my S2000 has developed a little crack above and behind the window.
A new top is $2000 + , so how to delay this bad event?
Previous posts suggested that the top was rubbing on the frame as it went up and down.
It isn't. The top is tightly stretched to reduce drumming at speed and this stress is pulling
the material apart.
My answer: Don't clamp the top to the windscreen except when necessary - i.e. driving with the top up.
Drive with the top down as much as convenient. And
Release the clamps whenever the car is parked.
BUT DON"T FORGET to clamp it when you drive it with the top up!
Or bad things will happen [Top departs from car at high speed]
