Default Soft Top Idea

Hey everyone, I don't know if this has been covered or not, but here I go.

This weekend I swapped out my 00 top for 05 top that I got from Birdie. I noticed that the rear tray had the same yellow stuff that the plastic window gets. With that said we all know that the rear plastic window cracks where it folds and fades.

Here's my idea, put something to keep the plastic from rubbing (towel, fabric, etc.) on the tray that should help the yellowing of the window. If you set up the soft top frame for the glass window that would stop the plastic from bending and that should help with the rear plastic window from cracking.

Just some idea's, I think it would work, at worst it will prolong the fading & cracking of your rear plastic window.

Sorry if I'm wasn't too clear, but It should make sense.

Xavier

If you're talking about a mat for the rear tray, there's one available. search for 'Muz mat'

roof well mat, that helps with one problem. What about the bending across the plastic window? Changing it too the glass window type (just the mod) would help with that. Don't ya think?

The glass rear window is much smaller than the plastic. Doing the glass window mod would just change where the fold line is on the plastic window.

There are window protectors commercially available. A "tube" of foam that you place once the outside of the top and its retracting. It stops the harsh bend in the top once completely retracted. Im not sure how well they work as Ive never had a plastic window on either of my S2000s. try checking ebay.

btw...shame other people thought of them first, otherwise you could have made some $$$
