Default Soft top removed, some pics of the process

I have recieved a few PM's asking about taking the soft top out so I thought I would show these pics. I did it about a year ago when I put on the hard top. If I want to go topless, I just leave it at home, it is not a big deal (rain pending).

I have not weighed the top, but my guess is 30-40 lbs, which I more than put back in when I put a 10" sub back there.

The finished pic before the stereo

everything out

Area where the welds must be cut they are just spot welds to make sure the bolts do not back out. very easy to cut!

Pierceman:
Thanks for the pics. I was thinking of taking my ragtop off in the winter months when I have my hardtop on, but I didn't know what it would look like. It looks pretty clean back there. That will add quite a bit of storage space for trips.

yes, I am going to have a "MUZ MAT" style roof well mat made that extends down the sides to cover the whole thing. I want a heavier foam wrapped to dampen any vibrations from my sub.

Why would you want to do that though? It would work out great if you had a hard top that you could have with you everywhere..

How does acceleration feel with the soft top out? I imagine that it feels alot lighter now.
