Default Softtop deformation

My softtop is showing some wierd wrinkling above the glass rear window. I took it in and the dealer tried to have a custom/detaling shop fix it. No dice.

Anybody see this happen before?

The dealer said they might replace the top for me if they cannot fix it. Suggestions? Will the wrinkling cause any problems (water, dirt, age)? Do dealerships have much success in replacing the top?

Thanx

Sorry...no digicamera...however, the first time I ever noticed it was after raising the top (after 2 months ownership). But it was gone in a couple of hours. I just thought it needed a straightening out that having the top up would cause. However, now with the top up constantly, it doesn't straighten out.

Since I have no other S's to look at (dealer is has none either), I am uncertain if this is common.

Anyone notice any type of wrinkles above their rear window (glass or plexi)?

Looking at mine, I seam to have it as well. If I stick my hand under the flap @ the top of the window, it is located at the seam. And in Destiny2002 pic, mine is in the same place.

This must be a glass window related problem. I've never had that happen in my 2 years of ownership. It seems that you're not alone.

Good luck with the dealer. They seem to be working with you on this issue.

Mine does that as well, but since i've got my hardtop on now, the top is retracted. I imagine the wrinkle will really show when I remove my hardtop in the spring and put the soft top back up. I thought I was crazy, but when the soft top was up during cooler weather, I heard wierd noises coming from around that location.

Its on mine to, some kind of padding under there. Mine just looks puffy and I notice this on all of the glass window tops.

Thanx for the pic, Destiny2002. That is almost identical to my problem.

Also, junehhan, I too have a noise coming from that area (inside, above the rear glass) when my top is up. The noise started at the beginning of this fall (cooler temps).

So...should I have the top replace? Does anyone have any experience with a top being replaced? I'm just worried that replacing the top could end up worse since the procedure is rather complicated and uncommon.

In my opinion, it is not a "problem".

The rear glass window was retrofitted to a system that was designed for plastic. They removed the two center snaps to make room for the glass to closely fit in the well. They must have also had to made provisions for the bend of the material above the glass.

It's just the way it is.
