Default Softtop is shiny

I bought my S2k with a hardtop as well. I had the hardtop installed before picking the S2k up. Now after the winter i removed the hardtop, and now i noticed that the original softtop has shiny spots. I tried cleaning it with a brush, because i assume it was dirt, but the shiny spots remain.

Is it wear or dirt ? Anyone else got the same thing ? How can i give it the original matte look back ?

Below a picture of it... its hard to see but when the sun is shining on it it looks awefull.

If you can see the top then you're doing it wrong

hermmm... not sure, but maybe wax, glass cleaner, polish, or leather cleaner? Maybe it went on the soft top accidently while detailing your car.. just a wild guess

Its wear... they all look like that as they age. Its from the bar underneath pressing on it

It's a normal wear due the bar rolling/psuhing underneath.

Few tips to keep your soft top in awesome shape is

-Keep it cool, if possible always park in shaed
- moisten it up. Some good products will help to keep the vynil moisten and UV protected. (I use aerospace 303)
-Don't fold it when cold (or frozen by cold) let the sun warm the vynil for a few minutes and roll it down.

I have these lines also, and where the top lays on itself when down. I am doing a 303 cleaner/protection job on it this weekend. I hear it reduces the appearance of these shiny lines. And one day I will have a hardtop and won't even care.

i think that is wear that you cant do much about. Aerospace 303 protectant makes the top look great all around though.

Be careful about parking in the shade. Shade caused by trees will usually result in birds crapping on the top. I wouldn't let birdcrap sit on the top for too long. I have no proof that it's bad, but it can't be good

It's not wear. I have a brand new as of March 2010. I remember, we had 4 inches of snow (in Texas!) the day I had to take it to dealership to drop off.

I have those marks. I think its the vulcanizing of the vinyl. I had them on the factory top too. If you clean the top, and condition it, they almost go away.
