Solstice or S2000?

There is an '05 Rio Yellow S2000 sitting in my driveway right now begging me to come back outside.
Have fun and be safe!
"The Honda is really a great sports car, but not an especially good sports car value. It is just too expensive. The Sky/Solstice is a veritable bargain."
That quote from the solstice forum is just plain funny. THIS is why people will by the solstice over the S2K. Many domestic car buyers are cheapos.

The fact is, I would have loved to have gotten a Boxster S but I simply can't afford a 50k to 60k car. It's just too much.
If the person you quoted is in the same position with respect to the S2000, then the Solstice would look pretty good. I don't know what their true financial situation is but I can certainly see where this might be a possibility.
I hope the Solstice lives up to the expectations of those who are seriously looking at them.

Of course we can't compare the s2k to the Solstice --- because no dealers have the Solstice for us to drive! And with the s2k, just about all the "tuner work" that can be done has been done without going to FI (and thereby straining everything from the flywheel back). The Solstice MIGHT be more fertile "tuner" territory. Further, GM has a bunch of engines in its inventory that they may chose to drop in the Solstice in the future. The 265 hp DOHC straight six from the soon to be defunct Trailblazer comes to mind, along with a bunch of others. With the Solstice releasing what wil someday become its "base model" first, I'll be most interested in seeing skidpad and slolam figures, track times, and other matters related to handling. Because we may soon see the "power thing" cured by tuners, or by GM itself.

Richard
