Solution for driver's side blindspot
Another member, Randy came up with this solution but has been unable to post since the changeover, and asked me to post this link for everyone:

Quite useful information, I might add.

I think i have posted this a BILLION times.
I HAVE FOUND A CHEAP AND EASY SOLUTION FOR THIS.
IT WORKS, I HAVE DRIVEN THE CAR SO MANY TIMES WITH THE TOP UP.
Here you go:

It is a mirror that sticks to the bottom part of the center mirror and has special angles that shows ALL BLIND SPOTS. I ran some tests with my GF this makes it better then any car. You will SEE EVERYTHING. It works in combo with the regular mirror and doesn't obstruct and looks good.
Sorry about the caps. I have said this at least 5 times before and people are still looking for solutions when an easy and low costing solution exists.
Thank you,

Thank you,
On the driver's side; I set the main mirror so that I can see out the rear window vertually straight back (I set the mirrors with the top up!)
The drivers mirror is then set so that I pick up the view in the rear view mirror just where it leaves off. This will give you just enough in your periferal vision, that when you glance at the mirror, you will see the car beside you there, before you see it out the drivers window.
The same setting is used for the passenger mirror, except that it is aimed low (you don't need to see the trees).

Is the diver's side blindspot that much of a problem? I rarely have problem with it. Just lean your head forward and to the right when looking at the mirror before changing lane. You'll see everything, apply the same techniques to the passenger's side.

The solution posted on S2Ki is clean and easy to install.....couple of #6 brass washers and about an hour. Don't know what that thing was the other guy put in his car but boy it sure is ugly. As for the blind spot I really didn't notice it until I fixed it with the up-and-out shims on S2Ki.
