Default Some dealers just plain suck

I've been looking for our first S2K for a couple of months now. Been looking for an ultra low mile AP2. I found one on Ebay that a member had on auction. Unfortunately, I screwed up and was outbid. A dealer in Chicago bought the car and immediately listed on it their website for $3100.00 over the auction price. I was willing to pay it, called them this afternoon and asked about shipping, etc. Told the guy I was a buyer and would call back tomorrow once I had arranged the financing. Got all of that done and was waiting excitedly to make the deal in the morning. Just now saw that they've raised the price by a grand.

I wonder if paying a deposit would have been able to lock in the price. Anyhow, don't be discouraged. There will be a perfect for you!

There are low mileage examples in the classifieds, though I don't believe any are 100% stock or stock appearing.

lol. They are called stealerships for a reason. So now it is at a $4,100 delta from what you originally wanted to pay, is it still worth it?

Never pay list price. Get your finances in order and then walk in and then tell them what you are willing to pay.

If you had an oral contract, you had a contract.

I Had something similiar happen at a dealership in Ohio on a Shelby Mustang. They raised their price on internet two times. At first they denied it. Then after seeing my screen shots claimed it was a rare car. Nevermind I found 3 more IDENTICAL cars in Columbus area. If I were you, run away. There are tons of great S2000's out there.

Dealers are in business to sell cars for the maximum price they can get. Why are we calling them "stealerships?" They're doing their job. If you think they're over priced go somewhere else. Sales guy is getting a commission so he screws himself if he cuts the price. Who are you to him anyway, he knows the car is in demand and someone will buy it! The buyer eventually sets the price when he hands over cash.

The dealer has no emotion in this transaction, it's just another car. He knows, however, there's emotion on the buyer's end for a car like the S2000 -- this ain't a Civic DX -- and will exploit that. But you can still walk away.

I don't call them stealerships, it's free market capitalism man. Lot's of folks have forgotten what that is. I'm just irritated with the game playing. I called them back this morning and was told the car was now off of the market and the guy told me he didn't know why. It's now showing sale pending.

Thats a load of BS. Sure there are genuine people in any business, but on average their poor reputation is well deserved.

Now, back on topic.
