different people enjoy their cars differntly.

i enjoy driving my car and the feeling it gives me when im in the driver seat an not worry about the rust on it.
some enjoy the car for it's body lines and spend more time detailing it then driving it.
some people enjoy having a car thats literally as pristine as possible.

 

The 1999 models were labelled 2000 models.



Anyway, I saw this a while back on this same site. I wouldn't want to own any car and just let it sit for 8 years. Even if I had a McLaren F1, I guarantee I'd be the owner you'd hear of in magazines/sports car websites who drove his car for over 100K miles (if it would last that long). That's just me.

 

Not so. While the car first went on sale in the US in Sep '99, the model year is 2000. (Similar to how you can buy a 2009 S2000 even though it's still 2008.) Meaning, there's no '99 version (in the US) of this car. Therefore the MY00 for sale that's being discussed here IS from the first year.

Oh, and S2KBG - you're mistaken if you think RedJet offered $3.5k. He simply copied questions that others sent the seller on ebay, and the seller's responses.

 

It's like driving a time machine! haha! I also saw a 2000 BB for sale on Autotrader in Georgia. It had 6,600 miles on it, and he wanted like $17k for it? If you don't understand why people do this then just go sit in it and drive it. Im sure it's flawless...

 

It's been removed from Ebay. Wonder if it was sold...and for how much. It would have been cool to know the VIN #. Wonder how early a production # it was/is.

I was just posting this auction for discussion (and in case anyone here is interested), I don't know why a couple of you need to try and get personal about this.

It's pretty awesome that it's such a low mileage car, I find it amazing that someone had the personal self-control to never go out and drive the car. I'd find that very difficult to do. The bid is up to $17000 and reserve hasn't been hit yet. Buy it now is $21000.

If I had a $21000 budget I'd definitely consider getting this.

I keep reading about "super deals" like these but I've yet to come across one.

 

Some people just like having pieces of history in their collection. #86 of all time is pretty good. Who would have known the S would go on for 10 years, when it was supposed to be an anniversary gift.

If this can't be understood, don't go looking at classic cars. Those cars are antiquated, hand-made (a.k.a. not as perfect as computer-guided assembly), and were cheap back in the day and expensive now. If I had cash, I'd buy a Porsche 356 in Silver just to have in my collection. Not much smaller production run than the S2000 and any modern sports car will run circles around it. Yet, I think it'd be cool to have. Just like I plan to keep my S as long as possible.

So they want to sell part of their collection, big whoop-de-doo.
