Someone Hit My Car!!!!
Someone smushed the left rear bumper, right behind the rear wheel a few weeks ago while it was parked. I'm guessing they were parallel parking and cut in too early. A new bumper, painted, refinished wheel rim, and some other minor work added up to $1200 worth of damage. No note on the windshield either. Fortunately all the damage was below the seam, if they'd smushed the upper part of the car at that point it probably would've doubled the cost easily.
So I can empathize with what you're going through.

This reminds me: One time, my neighbor and I were at Home Depot picking up some 4x4s to redo our backyard fencing. We took his 24-valve Cummins Ram 2500, obviously. Anyway, as we were leaving the parking lot (rather quickly), he turned too soon and literally ran over an older Camaro parked at the last spot. His rear tire freakin' went up the front bumper, onto the hood, and down the front-right fender.
Needless to say, the Camaro was ****ed up. And yes, we waited for the owner to come; they traded information, with my neighbor taking full responsibility...

i got rear-ended a couple weeks back (about 3 weeks into the ownership of a new 03) by a F-150 at about 10mph ... thank goodness for that tow hook.... it took almost all the impact. final damage tally --
'sasha' - replace tow hook cover ($14), 2-3 tiny wrinkles in rear bumper, to be paid for by 'boneheads' insurance (~$500).
F-150 - completely folded front bumper, including damage to both front 1/4 panels from bumper pushing up ..... $lots!!!
made me want to cry -- but sure was nice to drive away with minor, minor damage, and watch him pull away with mucho damage to his truck.
