Did a search but couldn't find this exact topic. I wanted to know if anyone knew what the specific differences are between the Spa and Rio paint colors. What year did they start making Rio available, and when did they stop the Spa color (if they stopped it)? I have always been curious because the two paints can look similar at times. Thanks!

 

Spa = MY01-MY03
Rio = MY04-current

Rio looks darker when they are side by side. Also rio looks to have more Pearl in the paint.

Rio is a shade darker and has about twice metal flake in the pearl coat.

 

Which you'll probably only notice if you happen to find the two cars parked side by side.

Spa, to me, is a more "pure" yellow color but as S2k Dude said, Rio's got more metal flake in th pearl coat and looks very good on the S2000.
