Default Spark Plugs Replaced... a bit disappointed...

Had my plugs replaced in accordance with the "recall" - and am a bit disappointed with the job done. It appears that the allen wrench the mechanic used was a bit worn, as the cover bolts are somewhat stripped and shiny. One actually looks like he used pliers on the outside of it. It is also scratched a bit where the aluminum is polished on the letters, kind of like it was set down on the concrete floor.

Anyone else had any problems like this? Seems silly, but it bothers me...

Complain to the service manager. I think if you own a $30K+ vehicle, they should treat it with the respect Honda put into making it.

Avoid the small allen wrenchs at all costs.....use the allen wrench on a socket with a ratchet. Comes of with ease with the leverage of the rachet handle...........Spark plug changes are done by the newbies at dealerships.......Learn and do it yourself......certin feeling of self worth and oneness with your car

s2kskibum where did you take your car to? I think you should post this kind of information in the RM section so all the owners will avoid that dealership and tech.

I agree! I went out and bought a new torque wrench (my tire one doesn't go down that low in ft/lbs) and just make sure the plugs are tight.

The ironic part was that I read this thread before-hand and sure enough, it happened along with a loose plug wire which caused the motor to go on 3 cylinders and with a check engine light still on with less power which I'm going to have to wait till Monday to fix when I take it back to the dealer. I got the plug wire snapped back in but the power is down and the CEL is still on!

I think DIY is the best answer... I know a guy with a barn out there in Franklin Co

I stripped one of the allens (and had to get out the punch and hammer to free it) on my S2k this past weekend checking on the plugs -- I would personally like to give whoever torqued them down that far a boot in the ass.
