Default Speed Trap Database

I came accross the following Speed Trap Database on the net and I figured that some of our owners could definitely USE the information in the database; some could contribute to the information in the database; and some could do both....

Interesting. Sadly, what they said about my area was true. Not only is the area a major trap, they also do a tar-pebbles-resurfacing of the roads which trashes your car.

Hey Eliot, doesn't this cut into your business just a little?

No -- will not cut into my business -- I get people with radar and laser tickets who were trusting their detectors all the time -- and there are always those who will roll the dice no matter what the odds...

Defender, Is there any way to get out of a speeding ticket? This is my first ticket so I was just wondering if I had a chance. I was in my wife's car trying to make a flight. 86mph in a 70.

It depends upon the procedures in the jurisdiction where you got the ticket. In some courts where I practice -- I can always arrange a dismissal or reduction to a non-moving violation; in other courts -- it is only guilty or not guilty (no middle ground).

I have no idea what the protocol is in Tennessee -- you would be best advised to seek - at least a consultation (it will probably be free) with a local attorney who does criminal and traffic work. You should waste no time in making an appointment; here in NY if certain things are done within 48 hours of receiving a ticket -- the odds of getting it dismissed are greatly improved. Perhaps there is something similar in Tennessee.

Thanks for the reply. I actually got the ticket in Georgia. I plan on calling a friend who is also a lawyer. Thanks again.

Question:

I heard that if you get a ticket and mail in the payment plus a couple of bucks, then they send you a refund. If you never cash the refunded check of a couple bucks, then they cannot proces your ticket and therefore no points. i.e. $100 ticket: send them $102: they send you $2 back: never cash it.

Any truth to this?
