Default Speeding Ticket

So went out last night around 10:30p to go to the local gas station / wash yourself carwash... Washed the car and wanted to go drive around and air dry it (basically an excuse to drive around on such a nice night)...

Anyhow, making a right from a one way street onto a road that turns into a freeway almost immediately. See a cop sitting at the gas station on my right, look at my speedo. Somewhere around high 30's (I haven't installed yellow box yet and have 4.57's) Think nothing of it. Cop immediately pulls out and gets right on my ass, we're on the freeway, he flips on his lights, I pull over... He yells, take the exit, and I merge back onto the freeway and take the first exit and pull over again.

He walks up and says, "step out of the car and come back here"... Me: "ok"
Him: "how old are you"
Me: "20"
Him: "how many drinks have you had tonight"
Me: "none"
Him: shines a flashlight in my face "follow my finger with your eyes"
Him: (after completing that) "how fast do you think you were going?"... Me: "i dont really know, maybe 40, but my speedometer is wrong as i put different gears in" (i know, never answer the above question, but i gave him the benefit of the doubt because he pulled me over for a reason. i'll take a ticket if i'm guilty)
Him: "speed limit is 30, when was your last ticket?"... Me: "about two months ago"
Him: "so you were going 45 in a 30, why should i not give you a ticket?" Me: "uhh...???"
Him: "stay right here"
His fat deputy asked me some quesitons about the car, even asked how well my radar detector works then had the audacity to say "it's not going off right now and i think ours is on" (you'll see later)
He comes back with ticket in hand...

Him: "social security number"
Me: puzzled look, "why? i don't think i've every been asked that before"
Him: <raised voice and looking for an excuse to cuff me> "SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER"
Me: give him my ssn...
Him: "year / make / model"
Him: "sign here"
Me: looking over ticket... ticket is for 45 in a 30.
Me: "may i... may i ask a question?"
Him: "what?"
Me: "can i see the radar gun?"
Him: "i paced you" (which is basically impossible and we both know it)
Me: "uhh... alright..."
Him: "you said you were going 40 or 45"
Me: "i said my speedometer was incorrect"
Him: "no that's not what you said!"
Me: "uhh... alright...."
Him: "you can appear at your court date"
He: Walks off.

Given the dialogue it might not be hugely apparent, but body language and demeanor from this guy was basically that he was looking for a reason to start wailing on me with a night stick, maybe because I'm 20 and have an S2000, I dunno.

This is the first ticket I'm going to fight- we'll see how it goes I guess.

Just getting an erroneous ticket wouldn't bother me, feeling bullied by someone that I pay to employ (taxes) does. I was completely honest, complied with everything he asked, made every effort to make him feel comfortable and safe (both hands on the wheel when he walked up, etc) and he basically made every effort to be a jackass and piss me off.

This is the classic reason I despise police officers. He probably didn't have radar and just lied to you to get you to incriminate yourself. Take it to court, get it reduced to no points, pay the $100 or so fine, and continue to loathe fatass, stupid, power-crazed, hater cops.

Always go to court. You should get no points but a fine. Always be nice and polite never say you were speeding unless its blantly ovious 80 in a 55 then say I'm not sure but i know you must of clocked me going faster than the speed limit or else you wouldn't pull me over.

He probably got the 45 mph number on the highway, and not the local road, but since you have a ticket history, you're screwed in court. If a cop ever tails you, just pull off the road before you give them any more reason to pull you.

Admitting any offenses to an officer is quite possibly the dumbest thing someone can do. It dosen't matter how obvious your offense is to an observer, courts have different eyes. If you want to incriminate yourself then your just a retard. If you want to contribute money to the cause go volunteer somewhere.
