Spoon Blue Wide Mirrors
Has anyone ever installed Spoon's Blue Wide Mirrors?
I think there's a design flaw to it, but wanted to know if anyone's experienced the same problem. The driver's side (Left Side) mirror's width seems to be too wide, or the center double-sided tape is not thick enough.
When the mirror is placed over the stock mirror, the mirror is designed so that the mirror is held by double-sided tapes on three points. The center and the Lef/Right side. However, for the Driver's side Mirror, when the Blue Wide Mirror is placed over the stock mirror, the outer edges does fit into the stock mirror outer edges, but the center portion does not reach the stock mirror surface. You can clearly see a small gap between the center double sided tape, and the stock mirror surface.
Thus, when you attempt to press and attach the Blue Wide Mirror, the glass cracks from the center. This has happened twice, but the Passenger's side (Right Side) has been fine.
I've written Spoon an e-mail, but I've yet to hear back from them. So was just wondering if anyone's had the same problem.

As an option, Muz sells the JDM mirror for around 30 US. It is convex without the writing. I have been running this mirror for years and love it. If JL9000 is right, and the spoon mirror was designed for a convex mount, the JDM mirros that Muz has will solve the problem. It is the same mirror used in Japan.
Note: The JDM mirror Muz sells replaces the OEM mirror. Just snap of the OEM and snap on the JDM mirror. No tape.

Maybe because in Japan, the left mirror is convex, and therefore the left Spoon mirror is also contoured to fit the convex mirror.
Go to Staples or any office supply and get some double-sided tape. It comes in various sizes. You can then either replace the center piece with a thicker one or double up thinner pieces to get a comfortable fit.
