Default Spoon Spark Plug Cover Owners - Please Help!

I am ready to install my Spoon plug cover, but I read a post about this problem:

JDMs2000 wrote-
"Don't forget to put a clear coat on it once you get it. Otherwise the heat from your engine will fade it to a cloudy white. Just FYI."

Has anyone else had this fading/color change problem? I don't understand how clear-coating will prevent heat damage. Also, I haven't seen high-temp clear coat.

Please post if you have info or photos on this topic.

Also: The finish of my Spoon plug cover is poor. There is a small hole in the resin coat which goes all the way down to the fiber, and in many areas the finish is rough and flat, instead of smooth and clear. There are also fibers poking out of the resin ABOVE some of the holes, (not from drilling). I purchased mine from IPS Racing.

I never unsderstood the obsession...just cause it says almighty SPOON on it you guys assume it's not the same crap you can get anywhere. Maybe you'll rethink paying some of their exhorbitant prices for run of the mill stuff.

Ludedude-

I'm not sure who you mean by "you guys". My obsession is with shaving- not Spoon. One of the reasons I selected this particular item is because it DOES NOT say "Spoon," "Honda," or any other brand name on it.

By the way, I am trying to get helpful info with this thread. Your insults are not appreciated.

calm down, I dont think Ludedude was trying to insault Kodokan_4 at all, he just stated his own opinion on the Spoon spark plug cover, however the wording might be a bit inproper.

Kodokan_4, this happened to me as well, I understood how you felt. I am not dissing Spoon, but the quality of their CF products are really not as good as I expected...I have owned the Spoon air duct, spark plug cover, fan switch, STB, etc, and the quality of them is no match for Mugen. I didnt put the clear coat on my cover and it looks somehow okey...no fading or anything yet, but I do not appreciate the quality of the CF work at all...

Sorry Kodokan if you thought I was commenting on you personally. I wasn't but rather on the poor quality of a part that carries a premium name and price.

Moved this to S2000 talk forum since it doens't belong in forsale.

Has anyone else with the Spoon plug cover had this problem (white clouding of the resin), or is JDMs2000 the only one?

Ludedude-
We are all brothers under our sheet metal (and aluminum) skins.
