Default Spoon test pipe?

Hey there everyone, I recently picked up a 03' Suzuka blue S2k and was wondering what bolt on mods I can do. My friend has a spare spoon test pipe for my car. He really didn't know much about it since he got it from another friend. I was wondering what does it do for the car? Any performance gain? Is it worth it? How much is worth? Thanks guys!

No Idea. But you should slap it on and see if there are any gains.

i felt that the spoon test pipe was a good mod especially with the supercharger. it cost about 140 used and you will throw a check engine light with it. you can fix that with a 02 simulator. also i don't think you will pass inspection it

It won't do much on a stock car.

My car is equip with spoon exhaust and other stuff, last month I put the test pipe on the car... the different when u put it on will be...
First, sound different, very loud at VTEC click in, a little bit louder then before when normal driving from 1000-6000...
Second, engine check light will on after u install it at the second time go on freeway, i think it due to the computer need to collect data, so the first time on freeway and local didn't go on
Third, the smoke can smell easily, down shift is better than before, smooth
lastly, performance will gain only a little at VTEC click in, but lost a lot at low rpm. especially at the day time, the car won't go fast...very slow
May be as matt said it works better if u have a supercharger, i dun no
Now, I am avoid to drive this car at very night time, b coz the muffer sound is too loud and smoke are noticeable, I scare the police officer will pull over me...

Kool thanks guys for your reply. I guess its a 50/50 with the test pipe. You gain a little, but with smog coming out like that your asking to get pull over. I guess I'll just save up for a sc kit. Thanks again guys!

dude...wy301, if you could actually visually see smoke coming out after you put on a test pipe, then something else is wrong with your car...

S2k408, try the test pipe...you should feel power gains everywhere throughout the RPMs, but only really at WOT...you probably wont notice any difference unless you are at WOT...even the sound shouldn't be a whole lot louder...but you will smell the difference.

I had a test pipe on my Eclipse and this is what I noticed...the Eclipse is a totally different car, but removing the cat on any car produces similar results.

On stock S though, you might gain...2hp maybe 3...I wouldn't expect more than that, maybe you loose 5lbs too since the test pipe weighs quite a bit less than the cat...thats my opinion on it all.

And cops won't smell your exhaust when your driving...I could tell you that my Eclipse most likely smelt much much "dirtier" and I never got pulled over or even questioned about the cat (that I didn't have), I mean at times before I tuned it, I was getting 13mpg...imagine how that must have smelt coming out the back with all that unburned gas...compared to what a effiecent S will smell like...just turn your car off right after you pull over...thats what I did

good luck bro...

Eric

Hey Slo-S2000 thanks bro for clearing that up. Yeah, I guess I might put in on in a few days. Hopefully the gain will good. I was just curious, cause I didn't want to lose any power. Thanks guys!
