So maybe I missed the boat on this one, but can someone please explain to me the appeal of the Spoon X Brace? Does anyone feel any difference with it installed, as opposed to the stock S2K without it?

Seems like one of the biggest selling points of the S2000 was it's incredible structural rigidy, due to it's frame construction. Sounds like it would be difficult to improve on that, no?

I suggest you use the search function.

This has been covered quite extensively.

Ya I used the search function before posting my message, thank you, and I only found a few dribbles of info about the brace, so my question remains, does anyone have any quantifiable evidence (improved track lap times or the like) that really show the thing helps? Or does everyone who has one love it because they need to justify the $200 + they spent on it? Seems to me Honda would have put one on the car at the factory if it really helped, after all the car was designed to be track-raced right off the showroom floor...

All opinions are welcome! Cheers!

Duncan, I understand your question and don't have an answer yet. Decided to "invest" the 2 bills based on all the raving comments from this board but have yet to receive the X-brace. I'll tell you what I think via PM after I get a chance to evaluate. I won't be shy in identifying if my hard earned $'s went to the worthwhile mod or not, IMHO of course.

I did a search for "spoon x brace" and came up with several hundred hits. Here is but one of the threads that discusses performance enhancement in general: http://www.s2000online.com/forums/showthre...p?threadid=3440
I do not have an x brace installed, but based on the numerous testimonials from whom I consider to be pretty rational people, the brace gives a lot of "bang for the buck" in terms of chassis stiffening. If it were allowed for stock autocross events, I'd add one in a heartbeat.

1. Stiffens the chassis
2. Tightens the steering
3. In the way when changing your oil
