spring question
i'm getting some 18's 49+ offset, 225/40 in front, 255/35 in rear...just wandering what springs would be the best for an aggressive drop (don't want the 4X4 look haha) without rubbing. I would go Zeal b6 or tien coilovers, but lack the funds. So what springs do you recommend?
Interesting that you (and most people, honestly) are looking for springs to lower the car. Why? Cause it looks better.
Most true enthusiats would take other factors into consideration, such as:
How will that affect suspension geometry, and handling?
Camber issues? (tire wear)
Ground clearance?
Suspension travel?
Performance benefits?
I'd take into consideration those factors before I even thought about how it would make the car "look". I can understand if you were looking at the wheel gap in... say.. an element. I can undderstand that youd want to lower that for looks.. i mean.. shit, i could crawl between the fender and tire on that vehicle. I wouldnt say the S2k's wheelgap is excessive at all.
Just some things to think about.

I've got HKS springs. Nice drop, but not too much. Nice ride, a little tighter than stock. Better grip but not as forgiving in mid corner bumps (but an x-brace fixed that).
Others to consider:
KG/MM
H&R
Eibach

I have a similar wheel set up. I am currently riding on kg/mm race springs (35mm drop)/koni yellows. I would NOT suggest this setup as I have occasional rubbing with my 18s (+50 offset front & rear) and same tires size as you listed above. I would suggest kg/mm supersport springs as the drop is 15mm and you should not have rubbing issues. I am switching to this setup over the winter.
Take care.

I'm serious... if you want a lower ride, and are not concerned about the handling characteristics, or other variables that go into a well designed suspension system, cut 'em, or torch 'em.
You want an "aggressive drop," and are not fiscally prepared to do it correctly, so whydontcha just go the free route? When you finally have your money saved up, you can buy the correct parts and do it right the second time.
I forget, is it "form follows function," or vice versa?

^ Don't do this...it will cost WAY more down the line.

Since some of these folks aren't really interested in answering you question, you might do as I did. PM evos2000, TurboPower, 4igs, or any of the other very helpful people on this board. You can then take that info and do a search on those specific springs and see what luck others have done.
Just from what I can gather from you so far I would agree on the advice of the Kg/mm supersport.
Yeah, I'm sure he is going to take a torch to his car
