Default Are springs really worth the effort?

OK, i have done lot's o reading on numerous threads regarding springs and I had a few questions cuz im sincerely thinking about purchasing the H&R sports. Generalizations and opinions are great but I'm really looking for honest facts and experiences of those who have installed springs or coilovers.

Will the rear end become squirrelly and loose?
Will I experience an obvious amount of hop?
Will the overall handling become noticeably erratic?
What's the ideal lowering height for our car?
Which springs are the most reputable?

Should I just leave the ride height alone???

thanks alot !!!

I'm not sure about the H&R's, but I decided to go with the KG/mm super sport versions that drops the car approx 15-20mm -- nothing too drastic, but just enough to eliminate a bit of that fender gap. Plus, KG/mm has the patented 'dual rate' technology -- chk. out their website for more info.

If you're thinking of lowering your car for performance reasons, go with full-out coilovers. Springs just don't cut it in this aspect.

Contact mingster for more info on the kg/mm's.

I just ordered a set of KG/mm Super Sport springs from Mingster also. Should be here in a few weeks. I did a lot of research and reading also on the various spring choices and it came down to H&R or KG/mm. They both lower the S2K about the same, but I liked the 'dual rate' technology on the KG/mm. Besides, KG/mm comes highly recommended by Mingster!!

I've talked to several people who slammed their S2K with Neuspeed springs which lowers it by about 1.4inches. They said that it affects the handling very negatively. This is why I chose to go with the KG/mm SS for it's moderate lowering stance.

Of course, I would love to get coilovers, but I don't have 2G's to drop on a set right now...

Man your car looks tight with the CP035's and it'll look even more aggro with a little lowering!! But I completely understand about your hesitation to get springs because it may affect the handling on our beloved S2K.
When I get my KG/mm SS', I'll let you know how they are if you're still trying to decide on getting the springs then.

go for coilovers incase you lower it for say any car shows and raise when you need to

wouldnt shocks help out the squirrely negative aspect of lowering?

I wouldn't lower it without coilovers. You want the matching of spring rates to the dampers.

I went with the HKS springs and honestly, I noticed no difference in handling. It does seem a little tighter now though and definately looks much better.
