Default squeaky seatback

my seats squeak horribly when moved all the way back. i originally mitigated this somewhat with a loose piece of felt hooked onto the little cargo net hooks behind the drivers seat, but eventually it got lost, and didn't have full coverage anyway.

i'm thinking about pulling the seat today and lining all the hard plastic parts on the back with felt, and then ditto for the back of the cockpit.

has anyone found a simpler way to get rid of the squeaks? i figure some type of spray might do it, but i don't want to spray something like wd-40 on an exposed interior surface of the car... it'll just get nasty and all over me.

yes, i realize i can move the seat forward and it will stop entirely, but i'm 6'2 or so and definitely most comfortable with it pushed all the way back.

tia!

Even with it all the way back, have you tried folding it up one notch? I am 6'1" so I know about the leg room, this method retains your leg room.

Yes, i just did as ruexp67 described. I don't want anything rubbing on the seatback. Some people have had trouble with the rubbing causing black marks.

Yup, I'm 6'2". Seat's gotta go all the way back. That sound drove me nuts until I couldnt take it one day and in a fit of rage I used the world's most overated, misused, and worst-reputation chemical know to man.

ARMOR ALL

Coat both sides of plastic/vinyl where contact occurs. Careful not to get this stuff on leather. You may need to re-coat periodically.

Worked for me.

I'm 6'3". I have used the "one click forward" solution, that someone else already recommended, since the first day I got my S2000 and haven't had a problem since.

Miles of squeak free enjoyment can be yours too!

Has anyone had any squeeking with the seat NOT all the way back?

I'm 5' 10" and I can hear the squeeking, but only with the top up. I can't say if this is the roof, or I can only hear it because the roof is up.

Has anyone else experienced/solved this one?

I move the seat ALL the way back on the track, adjust the seat back so that is touching the back of the compartment (like normal). Next, slide the seat up on the rails and recline the seat back ONE MORE CLICK. Now slide the seat back on the rails ALL THE WAY BACK again. This will hold the seat back FIRMLY against the back of the compartment, not just barely touching.

It takes a little bit of elbow grease, but the seat is then solid gainst the back, and............................no squeek.

Works for me everytime I detail the car.
