Default SRS Light after Seat Re-install

So my seats were stolen over a month ago. The shop has installed brand new 06-07 seats but they cannot get the SRS light to shut off. Wondering if anyone knows any particular reason why the light would keep coming back on. The passenger seat belt was also replaced.

The wires for the sensors were ripped when the thieves stole the seats. New oem plugs were soldered onto the wires, and a new sensor and all wiring was installed and everything was checked to make sure all the connections were good. The light has been reset multiple times, but keeps coming back on.

Anyone have any ideas? The shop is sending it out to a Dealership now to get it checked. The SRS guy that came to install the sensor couldn't figure it out either. They've already checked all connections and the wiring looks good.

It has to be a bad connection or short. Considering the wire's were ripped apart, I'm sure it could have been easy to mess up the soldering and getting wire's to the right spot.

That's what I would've thought. But they've taken out all the carpeting and rechecked all the wiring, because that's what they thought it was. Just wondering if there is something else that might be causing this.

with the wires having been torn out and having exposed the wires for the SRS, it's possible that they fried the SRS computer. I'd try finding one to borrow for a day and see if swapping it works.

Well I think the shop already sent my car to a dealership. So hopefully they can run the code and figure it out if its not the wiring. But that could be.

Tcho,

I have the same problem as in my seats were stolen and the wiring cut. I bought a new harness as well as the weight sensors. There are two in the passenger side, one on each side of the passenger seat; and one on the driver's side.

The sensors have to be calibrated when installed, and it is not a 2 minute job. The car has to be driven, stop and a sequence of things completed, with and without a weight placed on it. It is detailed in the Helm manual and you need a special tool.

My guess is that they were not calibrated as that has to most probably be done by a dealership.

That helps. I told the shop, and since it's already at the dealers I'd assume they would know that this would need to be done. is this in the standard Honda Factory Repair Manual? I would assume so.

This whole ordeal has been a nightmare. They had to order parts from Honda like 5 or 6 times because all of the parts to the seats didn't arrive. And they never got a straight answer in terms of the parts list. Hopefully it's just the recalibration.

Thanks again

If you want PM me your email address and I will try and scan the Helm manual pages that explain it.

Helm is the Honda factory manual, yes.

Also the sensors that need to be calibrated are the ones in the passenger seat; the one in the driver's seat is just tells the computer how far back or fwd the seat is placed.

Yep, the factory seats come in pieces and usually they always forget pieces. I went the Bride route, because of that and because they wanted to give me used ones ...

Some ABS and SRS wires are not supposed to be spliced. I wonder if they repaired wires which are supposed to be replaced? If they can actually calibrate the system with regard to the resistance of the wires I would think it should be OK. Maybe ask if they trying to repair wires which should have their harness replaced.

EDIT: I forgot, If the SRS light is on there is a DTC. The SRS DTC should point you in the right direction.
