Start button while engine running
I just purchased my S2000 this weekend, and while driving it home and learning the radio controls, I could foresee myself hitting the start button instead of the radio controls. So I now want to know if the button is enabled while the engine is running.
Conventional key started cars usually lock out the starter portion so even if you turn the key the wrong way trying to turn off the car, the starter won't engage. Is it the same for the S2000? I stalled the car and found that you didn't have to cycle the ignition to get the car to crank over. So I'm starting to think that it's always on.
I'd try it just to see, but the car is only 2 days old and figured I'd try the forum before risking any teeth grinding.
Thanks for the answers. Tried searching, but couldn't find anything
PS Is there a scan/PDF of the AP2 factory service manual around? I found the AP1 manual, but can't seem to find the AP2. Do people just purchase it?

Yes, it will grind if you press the button while your engine is already on. Don't know of any AP2 manuals online yet, but maybe someone can chime in on that.

Just like other cars, it won't activate the starter unless the clutch pedal is pushed in.
Conventional ignition switches behave the same way. They don't "lock out" the key from turning to the start position, but it won't activate the starter unless the clutch pedal is depressed.

OOPS! I meant to say as everyone stated, only if you press the clutch in, will it grind. I was thinking of it as I was typing, just never typed it out. That's what I get for not proofreading...

Yes. The Service Manual is copyrighted material. To provide copies of it would be illegal. Don't be a cheap-ass. If you can afford a 30K sports car, you can afford a 60 dollar manual.

...Maybe he can afford the $30K car because he doesn't spend money on manuals.
But now that I'm aware that it's against the law, I'll purchase one.
