After all of the talk on here of late about what state allows what, when, and where for their cars, I got to wondering about where this information might be found (WHEW, that was a long sentence).

IOW, where might a find a listing of my state /federal laws that say I must have amber flashers, license must be visible from front of car (and cannot be a photocopy), etc. etc. ?

I'm sure there is a website out there with all of the relevant info, but anyone have an address?

Dan,
You might want to begin with www.nhtsa.com for starters. If you find anything worthwhile, I'll be looking for the info.

John,

The link you posted auto-shifted me to some other site that was blank. I'll try it again tomorrow and see if it was temporarily down.

Pellis,

I did a cursory search of the link you posted and nothing particularly useful showed up (at least for THIS search...there is some great info on there!). I'll check out the DOT site when it decides to come back up.

http://www.washlaw.edu/uslaw/statelaw.html

...is a good source. Follow the link to your state and look for statutes. Most states have searchable text of all statutes available online.

Good luck!

at findlaw, under "US State Resources" they have state specific information. The Massachusetts page is http://guide.lp.findlaw.com/11stategov/ma/index.html

The information available seems to vary based on state, but for California, the one which I'm concerned with, has a fill listing of the Vehicle Code, among other things.
